Search engine optimization (SEO) aims to get your website placed as close to the top of search engine results as possible with correctly place keywords or phrases that have a direct relationship to the title of the webpage or website. Advertising and SEO seem different but are in fact, similar in their results. SEO, a main factor in the enhancement of incoming traffic to a website, can be time consuming but profitable because any views and links you receive free.

People with a good grasp of URL structure and SEO are usually the ones who create them (web developers, software developers, etc.). There are several black hat search engine optimization techniques utilized by these companies. These methods were originally considered ethical but over time, people began to tweak them and eventually, these methods lost all resemblance to the ethical techniques and unethical.
1. Filling your page with keywords might gain you a high rank for a while but it will create a poor user-friendly environment and will eventually lead to punishment from the search engines.
2. Some page designers write out lists of keywords with white text on white background to attract spiders.
3. Another technique of black hat SEO is creating a page that user cannot see and filling it with keywords to attract spiders. This tricks them into giving the site a higher ranking.

While these techniques may give quick and impressive results, they all have a common problem. They attempt to address a long-term problem with a short-term answer. These techniques work for a while but eventually lead to the banning of the website/webpage.
It is advisable and in some instances, necessary to use ethical search engine optimization techniques or your website/webpage will be banned in time. While hiring a search engine optimization firm will bode well for the success of the website, it is something that can be done individual if enough time is dedicated.

If hiring a search engine optimization firm appeals to you, then doing research on the various firms is wise because there are numerous firms that make false claims and sometimes employ black hat SEO.
